Day 3

Drive to the Great Wall, at Simatai.  Much less visited by tourists, this section requires some climbing of a paved path that winds its way up a small mountain.  At the top is a section of the Great Wall which is in remarkably good condition and completely un-restored.  The view is absolutely amazing, and depending on your physical ability and desire you can travel along the wall as far as you like.

    

Return to Beijing in time for dinner: a Peking Duck dinner at the best restaurant in Beijing for this dish.  Here you will not find the tourists; rather you will often see the top government officials eating the roast duck.  The oven is a special design and the duck has a unique flavor, the only location in Beijing to find this traditional style.
