Ethan (operations manager at Marco Polo & Company) made our 28 day customized trip to China so real. He helped us do all we wanted to do including meet some real Chinese, go to Huang Shan, take a commuter ferry down the Yangtze, and stay in villages that were going to be flooded. He provided us with local guides who were flexible, would honestly answer our questions, and show us new foods. He even provided us a 24-hour a day contact in Beijing who had the power to resolve any glitches on the spot. All and all, Ethan's services made our trip.

My wife and I have traveled all over China for more than 30 years, but we never had a travel experience as well planned or as customized to our interests as the experience we had when the staff at Marco Polo & Company helped us plan a trip to Tibet. China can often be daunting in many ways, and hard for the traveler to get exactly what he/she wants out of the visit. Not so with our trip. My wife, who was particularly interested in approaching Tibet photographically, was able to get all the time she needed at various saites, access to places normally closed or inaccessible, and in general, to see what she had always dreamed of seeing there. I wanted to let you know how pleased i was with our tour in china.
From the minute that we saw Lisa (our tour assistant) and the driver at beijing airport to the day we said goodbye to Lisa in shanghai, the tour was nothing but pure pleasure. Lisa in particular is exceptionally patient and talented and you guys have made a good choice employing her. I think her strength is the ability to be flexible.
Clearly we could not have done this tour other than under a situation you
provided. Our kids, although good, would have caused real problems to a large tour group, and the logistics, I think, in China, still require local
expertise.
Accordingly, we are very grateful for your and Lisa's efforts, and appreciate the time you guys took in ensuring that our trip was terrific.

We still have terrific memories of out China trip, which you did an able job of orchestrating. It is a huge country which would take years to explore, but in our two plus weeks we took in a reasonable sampling and left plenty of appetite for more.
